An adjustable kettlebell can help save space in a garage gym by replacing multiple sets of kettlebells with a single silhouette. Still, even the best adjustable kettlebells rarely go above 70 pounds. For the weightlifter or powerlifter in all of us, sometimes we just want heavier weights.

Titan Fitness has addressed this desire with the brand’s plate-loaded adjustable kettlebell. It’s capable of holding up to 500 pounds—well over the heaviest weight most people would want in their free weight. For a heavy kettlebell swing or deadlift, this kettlebell has you covered.

Yet with that much weight on it, does it still have the feel of a traditional kettlebell? I’m here to answer that question. For this Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing review, I’ll go over the kettlebell’s construction and in-use performance to see who it’s best suited for, and if it’s worthy as an addition to your home gym setup.

Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Review, Summarized

The Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing has an impressive 500-pound weight capacity (more than most will ever need), though you’ll need to use your own Olympic-sized plates to craft your working totals. It’ll definitely feel awkward for kettlebell exercises like snatches and clean and jerks, but for those eyeing some heavy deadlifts or carries (and those with adequate plates at their disposal), this sub-$75 kettlebell profile could be a worthwhile investment.

About Us

The construction and materials used in any type of equipment matters, especially with an adjustable kettlebell. Similar to adjustable dumbbells, the adjustment mechanism itself can be a weak point and prone to damage. We also carefully assess other aspects of a kettlebell’s construction, including change plates and handle design.

To earn a 3 out of 5 for this category, the kettlebells should be well-made and feel sturdy in use, although you may need to avoid dropping them. Plastic can be present, but it can withstand some wear and tear (if cared for properly).

A close look at the handle on a REP Fitness Adjustable Kettlebell.

Since kettlebells are typically used for a variety of unique exercises due to their cannonball shape, this is an important category when testing adjustable kettlebells. Some adjustable options look and feel like traditional kettlebells, while others use weight plates, giving them a unique profile that can compromise your range of motion.

To earn 3 out of 5 stars, the kettlebells must work fine, though they may have a slightly different shape compared to standard options.

Two PowerBlock Adjustable Kettlebells are shown side by side.

This category is based on the adjustment mechanism used within the kettlebell. Some options use a removable pin to select your weight, some feature removable weight plates, and others require you to unscrew something to adjust the weight, which can slow down your workout progress.

We award 3-out-of-5 ratings to kettlebells that are adjustable via a removable pin, with higher scores going to those that adjust quickly with the twist of a knob or dial.

Whenever we test a kettlebell, we carefully take it through a variety of workouts, paying attention to the ergonomics, construction, and overall workout experience. This allows us to use our kettlebell testing methodology to calculate a final review score by rating a number of important categories on a scale of 1 to 5.

The Titan Plate Loadable Kettlebell is a smart buy for lifters who already own weight plates and want a customizable, budget-friendly training tool. Be mindful, though, that switching between weight totals can be time-consuming, making this a less-than-stellar pick for HIIT training.

What to Know Before You Buy

  • At around $75—with included free shipping—this is certainly a budget-friendly option that allows you to go heavy. That said, you’ll have to have weight and change plates available already in order to fashion specific kettlebell weight totals.
  • While the kettlebell only comes with a one-year warranty, extended coverage is available through Mulberry.
  • With nine adjustable positions along the Titan Kettlebell Swing, you can secure your weights fairly well. Still, there will be a bit of rattling if there is any separation between the weights and the weight pin.
  • This adjustable kettlebell accepts Olympic-sized weight plates, but won’t work with 1-inch standard weight plates.

Is the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing Worth It?

At about $75 with free shipping, the Titan Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing is definitely one of the cheaper options for adjustable kettlebells, so long as you have access to Olympic plates. If not, you’ll have to factor bumper plates or weight plates into your budget.

It’s the least expensive adjustable kettlebell from Titan Fitness, with the competition-style adjustable kettlebell costing $215, and the 40-pound adjustable kettlebell costing $150. Outside of Titan, the Bells of Steel Competition Kettlebell starts at $220, and the Bowflex SelectTech 840 Adjustable Kettlebell is $149.

The big difference between this and other options is the high weight capacity and unique shape. The 500-pound weight capacity can be excellent for heavy carries and swings, but those wanting a more traditional kettlebell-style workout may be better served with a traditional shape.

Great for:
Heavy goblet squats and kettlebell swings
People needing budget home gym equipment
Home gym users with Olympic weight plates readily available
Not recommended for:
Those who don’t already own compatible weight plates
Those who prefer a more traditional kettlebell feel
Anyone who wants fast weight changes in their adjustable kettlebell

Experience Using the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing

Brandon Lunsford, one of our expert testers, took the Titan Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing through quite a few kettlebell workouts with plenty of squats, deadlifts, rows, swings, and presses baked into the programming. According to Brandon, this Titan Fitness profile is a versatile tool to have in your arsenal, and research shows1 that kettlebell training can improve strength, power, endurance, explosive power, and postural coordination.

That said, Brandon did note that the kettlebell’s odd shape limited his kettlebell training somewhat in certain movements, but he attributes this to the weight plates used more so than the kettlebell handle itself. “Using a 45-pound iron weight plate, I noticed that the width would brush against my legs during squats,” he explains. “So, I’d recommend using smaller change plates, like a metal 25-pound plate.”

A woman standing on two weight plates as she lifts the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing
Our tester performing a lower-body exercise with the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing

Another thing he noticed was the height of the kettlebell, which is a non-adjustable 19.3 inches. Much longer than a traditional kettlebell, the Titan Kettlebell Swing made rowing from a weight bench difficult, as the kettlebell would hit the floor when Brandon extended his arms.

Where the kettlebell shines, though, is in its weight range. With a weight capacity of 500 pounds, you can potentially load the kettlebell with any desired weight; you’re essentially only limited by the plates you have in your possession.

The Titan Fitness Kettlebell Swing is designed to work with Olympic weight plates, allowing you to use your existing equipment instead of buying multiple kettlebells at different weights. This makes it an excellent budget-friendly choice for home gym owners who already have plates at their disposal, as well as those who primarily use kettlebells for heavier movements like swings or carries.

Construction

Product Rating – 5
Average Adjustable Kettlebell Rating – 4.2

With an 8-pound starting weight, the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing’s steel construction is capable of holding 500 pounds, earning 5 out of 5 stars for this category. You probably can’t fit 500 pounds of plates on the handle, nor would you need to, but we have no concerns about the longevity of this handle.

A close-up of a woman putting the pin in the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Adjustable Kettlebell
A close-up look at the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Adjustable Kettlebell Swing

You may feel the plates wobble around slightly when using the kettlebell, but this is true with most adjustable kettlebells and dumbbells, and nothing to be overly concerned about. The safety pin can help limit plate wobble, too, when installed in the correct position, so you don’t need to worry about the weights flying off.

Durability

Product Rating – 4.5
Average Adjustable Kettlebell Rating – 4

The Titan Kettlebell Swing also has a powder coating across the entire kettlebell, which can help protect it from wear and rust. The coating is consistent and has remained so since we received the kettlebell handle in 2024. As such, Brandon feels that it will last for plenty of workout sessions, and the adjustment pin feels sturdy enough for regular operation, as well.

You probably shouldn’t be dropping any type of adjustable gear on a regular basis, but even if you were to drop this one, we don’t think you’ll run into any issues. Overall, we give this 4.5 out of 5 stars for durability.

Adjustment Speed

Product Rating – 3
Average Adjustable Kettlebell Rating – 2.8

The adjustment speed isn’t ideal if you want a quick weight change to support kettlebell HIIT workouts. There are two weight pins across the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing: One to connect the kettlebell handle to the loading sleeve, and one to secure the weight plates. To slide the weights on or off, you’ll have to remove each pin, as well as the handle, which can make for some less-than-snappy adjustments mid-workout. This lengthier process earns the kettlebell a 3 out of 5 for adjustment speed.

A GGR product tester adjusting the pin on the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing
A close-up view of the adjustment pin on the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell

The nine adjustment positions can also leave a bit of wiggle room between the weight plates, depending on your loaded total. During a kettlebell swing, this space can make it seem as if there’s excessive play across the silhouette, which can (naturally) lead to some cautious concerns. “The weights and the kettlebell stayed together during swings, but the extra wiggle room let the weights clank around a bit,” Brandon notes. “While it never became an issue, the rattling made me a bit nervous.”

Weight Range

Product Rating – 5
Average Adjustable Kettlebell Rating – 4.3

Since adjustable kettlebells offer convenience and a smaller footprint, we want to know the weight range offered by a particular free weight, as well as how many standard kettlebells it can replace in its singular silhouette. For this category, the Titan Fitness Kettlebell Swing easily earns a 5 out of 5.

A woman putting a weight plate on the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing
A GGR product tester loading a weight plate onto the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing

Having a variety of weights is important, as this can allow you to progressively get stronger over time, according to exercise physiologist Dr. Chris Mohr, PhD, RD.

“For beginners, it’s smart to start with lighter weights and focus on mastering the correct form,” he explains. “As your strength improves, you can gradually increase the weight, and it’s important to push and challenge yourself.”

The unit itself weighs 8 pounds, and it features a very impressive 500-pound weight capacity, which is more than most people will ever need for traditional kettlebell workouts.

We can’t really quantify how many standard kettlebells it replaces, either, since it works with standard Olympic plates. In theory, this allows you to customize the weight to your exact needs, making it one of the most versatile adjustable kettlebells we’ve tested. Just note, though, that you’ll need plenty of weight plates available to craft your ideal working totals—you can’t complete the puzzle without all the pieces, after all.

Shape

Product Rating – 2
Average Adjustable Kettlebell Rating – 4

The shape of the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing isn’t great, unfortunately. Even though its overall dimensions are dependent on the weights you use, the width of the kettlebell will typically be much wider than most traditional kettlebells. If you’re used to traditional kettlebell sets, like those often found in CrossFit boxes, you may not like the shape.

Also, it won’t be a rounded shape, so resting the kettlebell on your shoulder will likely be uncomfortable with a weight plate corner digging into you. Brandon rates the shape at 2 out of 5, too, since the height and width can compromise your range of motion, which he experienced during some (attempted) kettlebell snatches.

Handle

Product Rating – 5
Average Adjustable Kettlebell Rating – 4.5

Although the handle is not knurled, this Titan Fitness kettlebell swing is grippy and controllable thanks to its even powder coating across the entire profile. Brandon rates the handle design at 5 out of 5, though, given the wide and accommodating opening that allows for comfortable single- and double-handed setups.

RELATED: What Is Barbell Knurling?

The 33-millimeter handle diameter is also on par with the average adjustable kettlebell, so we feel that most should be able to comfortably grasp this loadable kettlebell for controlled, effective training.

Price

Product Rating – 5
Average Adjustable Kettlebell Rating – 3.5

In our experience, adjustable kettlebells tend to range from about $50 to $300, depending on the model, brand, and included weights. It’s worth pointing out that this model from Titan doesn’t actually include any weights, but it’s still quite affordable at its regular price of $74.99 (we’ve seen it on sale for as low as $64.99). If you have your own Olympic plates at home, this is easily the most affordable option you’re going to find.

For additional context, we’ve determined that the best kettlebells start around $44.50 per ‘bell at the low end, so even if you need to purchase weight plates as well as the kettlebell handle, the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing offers exceptional value compared to buying multiple ‘bells.

Customer Experience

Product Rating – 4
Average Adjustable Kettlebell Rating – 4.4

Titan Fitness has a return policy of 30 days, but only for unused items in their original packaging. You’ll be responsible for your own shipping costs, as well as a 20% restocking fee. Contacting Titan Fitness is easy enough, as there are multiple methods listed on the website: Call, text, email, or live chat. Alternatively, you can submit a request form.

As for the warranty, Titan provides a one-year warranty on all of the brand’s products, which is good for something like a slam ball, but not so great for heavier-duty silhouettes like an Olympic barbell or power rack. For this adjustable kettlebell swing, a one-year warranty is lackluster, as many companies provide multi-year or lifetime warranties. Overall, the Titan Fitness Kettlebell Swing earns 4 out of 5 for the customer experience.

Customer Reviews

Product Rating – 4.7
Average Adjustable Kettlebell Rating – 4.6

As of this writing, the Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing has a very positive 4.7-out-of-5-star rating on Titan’s website, averaged from 38 reviews. The reviews on Amazon are a bit lower, with an average score of 4.1 based on 46 reviews.

Most reviews are positive in sentiment, with many people applauding the construction of the kettlebell. Reviews speak positively about the wide handle window, as well, although not everyone agrees.

Most criticisms of the kettlebell come from its bulkiness, with some customers saying it’s too long, and some pointing out that it doesn’t feel exactly like a traditional kettlebell.

Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing Vs

While the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing is one of the most budget-friendly options, especially for those who already have Olympic plates at home, we know it’s not the best fit for everyone. Kettlebell purists may prefer a more traditional shape, so we’ve got a few other options for you to consider.

If you want a kettlebell that looks and feels nearly identical to a traditional ‘bell, we highly recommend the REP Fitness Adjustable Kettlebell. The weight ranges are a bit more limited compared to Titan, and it’s going to cost more, but we think it’s a better choice for those who want the traditional design that can be effective for more training needs like snatches, presses, and beyond. The only downside is the plastic adjustment mechanism, which may wear down over time.

To hear our full thoughts, be sure to check out our REP Fitness Adjustable Kettlebell review.

For another traditional shape that’s a bit more durable, you may want to consider the Bells of Steel Adjustable Competition Style Kettlebell. It doesn’t adjust as quickly as REP’s kettlebell, but it’s extremely durable, and we think it’s one of the few adjustable options you could regularly drop without any concerns.

Final Verdict of Our Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing Review

With potentially an infinite number of weight options for beginners and advanced lifters alike, the Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing can be a great budget-friendly option. It can take the place of multiple kettlebell weight sets, leading to tons of space savings across your home gym.

This is an inexpensive option if you’re looking for a heavy kettlebell alternative, but that heavy weight comes with a lot of awkwardness and bulkiness. The length and width of the kettlebell swing make for an odd feel in use, and limit the amount of exercises you can do comfortably.

Whether or not this kettlebell is right for you will depend on how you want to use it. For a more versatile and traditional kettlebell feel, you may want to look elsewhere. However, for heavy squats and kettlebell deadlifts, this is a fantastic option.

  • While this handle can hold up to 500 pounds of weight, you have to use Olympic plates, so the shape won’t really feel like a classic kettlebell.
  • We think this Titan loadable kettlebell is extremely durable. You shouldn’t have any issues with longevity (even if you mistakenly drop the weight).
  • The Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing costs $74.99 at the time of writing, making it a great value choice. That said, if you don’t already own plates to load this up, we’d recommend choosing a more traditionally-shaped adjustable kettlebell that doesn’t require additional weight.

Titan Fitness Plate Loadable Kettlebell Swing Review: FAQs

Are kettlebell swings actually good?

Kettlebell swings can be great for combining cardio exercise with resistance training. Higher repetitions can support an increased heart rate, and the exercise itself trains the muscles in your posterior chain—glutes, hamstrings, and hip flexors—which can help develop strength and power.

What are the cons of adjustable kettlebells?

While they can be a great space-saving option and save you money, adjustable kettlebells will often be more fragile than traditional kettlebells. Additionally, the weights usually don’t go as heavy as fixed kettlebells, and weight changes can be time-consuming.

Can you get fit just doing kettlebell swings?

Yes, you absolutely can get fit from kettlebells alone. Kettlebell training is fairly versatile. It allows for slower strength movements, like squats and deadlifts, or powerful and explosive dynamic movements, such as a kettlebell swing or kettlebell clean and jerk. Using weighted kettlebells for your exercise routine can also incorporate resistance training into your workouts, which is vital for building muscle.
